The George Mason University, College of Health and Human Services is seeking a Chairperson for the Department of Global and Community Health. The Department of Global and Community Health serves as the administrative and academic home for both undergraduate and graduate degree programs including the Master?s of Public Health; Master?s of Science in Global Health; Bachelor?s of Science in Community Health; as well as graduate certificates in epidemiology and biostatistics and an undergraduate minor in the field of public health. The incoming Chairperson will have the opportunity to provide leadership to a young, rapidly growing department. The Department of Global and Community Health is part of a major college within one of the fastest growing universities in the country. George Mason University, the largest university in Virginia, is recognized for its highly innovative approaches to postsecondary and graduate education, as well as for the extraordinary diversity of its student body. The successful applicant for Chairperson will hold a terminal degree in a discipline pertinent to studies in global and community health. Strong preference will be given to candidates with a doctoral degree in a public health-related field or another doctoral degree with an MPH, with a solid research record, and expertise in global health?particularly in the areas of Behavioral Sciences, Community Health, or Social Sciences. Leadership experience in both graduate and undergraduate education is desired. Incumbent must qualify for the rank of associate or full professor, and meet the requirements for tenured faculty in the College of Health and Human Services and George Mason University. Excellent interpersonal skills are an absolute must, as well as the desire to work in a culturally diverse environment as part of an interdisciplinary faculty team.
